BEFORE YOU CAN JOIN THE GAME: In order to be added to the game, there are some steps that must be completed. The first and most important step is for you to make your individual Cry_Wolf post. This is simply an entry dedicated solely to the game, it's the place where we'll comment to leave you hints. The entry will be the main source of all your insider information, you can't play without it. This entry should have screened comments and be backdated.
THE CONCEPT: Have you ever seen the movie Cry_Wolf? Did you play the game before it was shutdown? Well, this is ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) longport's modified version of that! To summarize the game, the whole basis is that there are two teams. One team is made up of almost every player, these are the sheep. The other team is composed of one to two secret members, and those are the wolves. The goal of the herd will be to figure out which players are the wolves, and the goal of the wolves is to mislead the pack into thinking it's someone else. A good wolf will lie their way out of any accusation! It's absolutely essential to the fun of the game that the wolf/wolves remain secret, so if you can't abide by that then please don't join in. The wolves will pick off one member a day by commenting this journal (This is to make sure your identity isn't accidentally exposed by forgetting to be anon! We all make mistakes!), and members will be ousted according to activity. If the game is still going and all the players are active, we'll hold a vote. Majority will rule!
• The Moderator (cry_wolf) will pick 1-2 wolves for every game. The number of wolves will depend on how many people are playing that particular round. The wolf plays an intricate part in the game, so please be active if you decide to play. If you're the wolf, we'll comment your special post. If there are multiple wolves, each wolf will kill one player a night (two people will be dead every "morning"). The wolves will be made aware of one another, but are not required to communicate. At least not until the filter bug is worked out.
• OOC NOTE: Every player can join the game with one character. If you have more than one, pick the one you most want to participate.
• Don't trust comments telling you that your character is dead unless they come specifically from this journal. The wolf picks the victims, we tell the victims. Clues can be handed out from this journal (everyone will receive those comments), or you can hand them out on an individual basis! All comments relating to the game should go into the specialized post. You can be anon or public, the comments should be screened anyway. Feel free to lie and cheat your way out of trouble, it's not fun if it's easy! Don't be afraid to mislead your friends, this will probably be your only chance to lie to them and not get in trouble. So is it okay to comment your best friend's cry_wolf post and tell them that you think their boyfriend is the wolf? Yes! But you might want to make up a reason for it.
• The game ends when all of the wolves have been ousted. If no one figures out who the bad guys are, the game will end once all the other players have been ousted or killed off. At that point, the wolves will be revealed to you and the next round will begin!
• Add this journal if you plan on playing. That way the posts will show up on your fp and you'll know when to comment! All posts will be labeled clearly.
• Confused? Feel free to ask questions, we'll do our best to explain! Or send an im to longportshepherd. Comment this entry once you've got your cry_wolf entry up, we'll put up a roster in 24 hours in addition to the appropriate entries.
• The game moderator will be the only person aware of who the wolves are (aside from the wolves, obviously). The moderator will not take part in any of the games outside of the described activity. The moderator will also not give away any secrets.
• Each wolf can kill off one player a night. If the wolf doesn't comment or im the shepherd with their victim, the shepherd picks for them (the wolves have until midnight every night to make their decision). Dreams/hints will be handed out to a selection of the participated players once a day, not everyone will get the same dream/hint and some will get nothing at all.
• Do not screencap your secrets/whispers and show them to the group. This completely ruins the fun of the game and makes everything pointlessly fast. The secrets will be text-only starting from the second round, but half the fun is in the debate. If you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen!
• If you don't understand the game, feel free to add this journal and watch the proceedings! Only comment if you intend to actually participate.
• If you don't comment this post, we can't add you. Friending the journal isn't enough, you need to tell us you want to play and that you're not just watching.
